Assessment and Inspection

The Competence Assessment (CAS) process is conducted by an independent third party and ensures that clients can be confident that their project will be in safe hands. First, the commercial capability of each company is examined: from its administrative and business systems, financial records, insurance arrangements, health and safety, to environmental policies. Ensuring that clients can be confident that high commercial standards underpin their contractor.

Next, CAS scrutinises technical competence: work in progress is evaluated on-site against a broad range of standards devised and compiled by B&ES in collaboration with the Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA).

Clients can therefore be confident that their B&ES contractor will provide the technical knowledge, skills and applications to deliver their project, performing as specified. Industry recognition of CAS has enabled immediate entry to TrustMark; participation in SSIP; and is the key to schemes enabling compliance by B&ES members (Building Regulations, Air Conditioning Inspections, DECs).
